MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMANBishop Auckland Schools Football Association (BASFA) has been in operation for many decades and was enlarged in the 1980’s with the addition of schools from the defunct Spennymoor and Durham Associations. We are now one of the largest districts in the country, with a membership of 18 Schools and we have flourishing league and cup competitions for each of the five age groups from years 7 to 11. We have also had a great deal of success at both local and national levels, being finalists in the English schools trophy twice in the last 10 years and winning a number of county cup competitions at all age groups. We are also very proud of our code of conduct, initiated by our association, for players, parents, spectators and teachers and which was adopted at first county and then national levels. We have excellent links with many of our local professional and semi-professional clubs and a number of our students have gone on to pursue a career in professional football. Although BASFA is committed to providing competitive football for as many students as possible, a great emphasis is always placed on encouraging good behaviour and sportsmanship. |
